Kukunoor has always given a true and realistic movies, and this time too he projects his focus on the hard-hitting topic of se*-trafficking. The movie revolves around a 13-year-old girl, Lakshmi (role played by Monali Thakur), who is forced to live a life in the cruel world of se*-trade. The small little girl is forced into prostitution, tortured and made to sleep with several men. Eventually the brave girl collects the pieces of her traumatized life and decides take on her tormenters through law. Nagesh Kukunoor plays a pimp in the movie. Satish Kaushik, the co-producer, plays a negative role. While Shefali Shah enacts the role the mistress of a brothel, actor Ram Kapoor will be seen as a lawyer. Film ‘Lakshmi’ marks the Bollywood debut of singer Monali Thakur, who according to the first look has given a mind-blowing performance. Lakshmi also starring Shefali Shah, Ram Kapoor, Satish Kaushik, Nagesh Kukunoor, Flora Saini, Vibha Chibbar, Gulfam and others, ‘Lakshmi’ is set to release in cinemas on Jan 17, 2014.
